I wish to congratulate Dan Waterworth from Petersham Juniors Rugby Club for winning the Volunteer of the Year Award at the recent Magpie Sports Awards.

The fabulous team at the Midjuburi Youth Resource Centre [MYRC] held a NAIDOC Week event last month, a beautiful and empowering event in which culture, art, food, stories and more were shared.

I wish to recognise the sudden and unexpected passing of Mr David Searle, a much-loved teacher at Marrickville High School.

I wish to recognise the passing of Eddie Alameddine, a much-loved local Dulwich Hill business owner and member of my local community.

I wish to congratulate Mr Terry Wong from Hurlstone Park Wanderers for his recent recognition by Football NSW during Volunteer's week.

I'd like to encourage everyone to come down to Yeo Park, Ashfield on Sunday 4 August to enjoy the exciting 'Generate Youth Music Fest'.

I wish to acknowledge the significant achievements of former Dulwich Hill Bicycle Club member Ms Margaret McLachlan, who in 1966 as a 21‑year‑old, had the cycling world at her feet, however the fact she regularly beat male riders deemed her too 'dangerous' a competitor.

It is my great pleasure to congratulate Marrickville local Brendan Ryland on being selected to represent Australia at this year's Transplant Football World Cup in Italy in September.
