Congratulations and thankyou to the volunteers from who recently rolled up their sleeves to take part in National Tree Day at H.J. Mahoney Reserve. Working alongside Inner West Council's Urban Ecology Team, golfers from Marrickville Golf Club and community members spent the morning planting native species and helping restore an important stretch of habitat along the Cooks River. Their efforts will strengthen wildlife corridors and support the regeneration of the area's unique Estuarine Swamp Oak Forest. National Tree Day is a wonderful reminder that caring for our local environment is something everyone can be part of. Families, volunteers and residents of all ages came together to make a practical contribution to the health of the river and the surrounding bushland, while learning more about the natural history of the Country on which we live. Community-led environmental action like this helps make the Inner West a greener, healthier and more connected place to live. I congratulate Marrickville Golf Club's Dane Jones, the club's volunteers, and Inner West Council's Urban Ecology Team for bringing the community together and making a positive difference for our local environment.
