Congratulations to the Newtown Breakaways Football Club who proudly celebrated their annual Pride Round on 14 June, a powerful and joyful statement of the club's unwavering commitment to inclusivity, diversity and belonging. Pride Round is not simply an event — it is a reflection of who the Newtown Breakaways are at their core. Since their founding in 2002, the Breakaways have paved the way for making Australian Rules football a sport for all in the Sydney AFL community, building a club culture where everyone is welcome, celebrated and seen. This year's Pride Round was made all the more special through a landmark partnership with the Newtown Jets, uniting both codes of football in a shared celebration of inclusion across a stellar weekend of sport. The Breakaways were born when a group of passionate players broke away to build something different — a club with heart, values and a deep sense of community. That spirit is never more visible than during Pride Round. A heartfelt acknowledgement to founders Jamie Robertson and Rebecca Burridge, President Tiffany Chen, all the Board, and to every player, volunteer and supporter who makes this club the amazing, inclusive home it is.
