The Beer Footy & Food Festival returned to its spiritual home at Henson Park this year, celebrating 10 years on the hill and everything that makes the Inner West such a special place. The festival has become a uniquely Inner West tradition, bringing together local breweries, small businesses, community sport and families for a day that captures the spirit of our community. Fans spread across the hill, reflecting the best of suburban rugby league and entertainment continued beyond the final whistle, with Pro Wrestling Australia delivering ringside action and the ever-popular Streaker Bullrush once again drawing laughs from the crowd. The main game saw the Newtown Jets take on the Newcastle Knights, and while we went down by an agonising one point, it added another chapter to the proud history of a club that has called Henson Park home since 1936. This year's festival was its biggest and most successful yet. I congratulate organiser Matt Rule and the whole team at the Newtown Jets, including Barry Cotter, Stuart McCarthy, and Glen Dwyer, as well as the many volunteers and local businesses involved in making the festival such a success.
