Before I delve into the detail of the issues, I need to disclose that I live with my husband and son within the Dulwich Hill Precinct. These plans potentially affect half of the Summer Hill electorate and I stand with you as both a Member of Parliament and an affected resident.

Like many in this House, I support a woman’s right to make choices about their own reproductive health. The Government blocked me from giving this speech in Parliament last week.

Given the events of this week, this matter of public importance raised by the member for Sydney is particularly timely. It is appropriate that this House again put on the record its support for marriage equality. 

Gift of Bread is a fantastic example of inner west ingenuity.

Volunteers collect excess bread donated from local bakeries, slice it up, pack it and supply it to community organisations throughout the inner west.

On Saturday 22 July I joined other local Labor Party members to participate in the Stop WestConnex Lantern procession, which was organised by the many community resident action groups that are opposed to the project. 

On 1 July the National Disability Insurance Scheme [NDIS] rolled out across New South Wales.

After an agonising fourteen month wait, the Minister for Planning has finally announced the Government’s updated plans for the Sydenham to Bankstown Urban Renewal Corridor.

Notice of Motion regarding 14,000 signatures signatures from commuters and residents opposed to bus privatisation in Region 6 and the call on Government to abandon plans to privatise our inner west bus services. 

We know that all across our State volunteers form the backbone of our communities. Foremost among them are the brave men and women of the State Emergency Service [SES] who put themselves in harm's way to protect our safety and property following storms, floods and natural disasters. 

I speak in debate on the Firearms and Weapons Legislation Amendment Bill 2017. The bill makes changes to the Firearms Act 1996 and the Weapons Prohibition Act 1998. In many respects, the bill introduces changes agreed to in the updated National Firearms Agreement, which emerged from the joint Commonwealth-New South Wales review following the Martin Place siege.
