Jo Haylen, the member for Summer Hill, has congratulated the Gallipoli Centenary Peace Campaign and Marrickville Council on the opening of Peace Park. 

A one-size-fits-all plan for excessive high-rise development is not the right approach. We can and must do better.

This October I join thousands of Australians in paying my respects to the women we have lost and saluting the courageous women who have been diagnosed. Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the thousands of Pink Ribbon breakfasts happening across the country show that the community stands with you and we will continue to fight to find a cure.

If the Government wants to pit developers against residents in the fight for affordable housing, I will stand with the elderly, families and the most vulnerable in our community.

Jo Haylen, the member for Summer Hill, has called for Haberfield to be added to the State Heritage Register. 

For many Sydneysiders, Haberfield is just another suburb that one drives past: a name on a map, a sign on Parramatta Road, maybe a place your grandma took you to in order to buy cannoli—really good cannoli. However, for the people who live in Haberfield it is obviously much more. Today I take this opportunity to speak about Haberfield and the importance of its community.

Multiculturalism is one of the great hallmarks of our country and of this State. We all have value and our country is built by many hands on the foundations of mutual respect.

Today I mark the five-year anniversary of the Adoption Amendment (Same Sex Couples) Bill 2010, a bill that allowed same-sex couples to adopt children in New South Wales.
