Stanmore Festival of Music is an annual community music festival, bringing together a wide variety of inner west musical talents and tunes.

The inner west is Sydney’s cultural capital. The Perfect Match program, which I initiated as Mayor of Marrickville, has grown from a small trial to a pivotal part of the council’s annual Edge festival.

Last month I was pleased to host an Inner West Youth Mental Health Forum at Petersham Bowling Club. The forum was an opportunity to learn more about the pressures young people face and the scale of the challenge we face together.

The recent revelations from the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission's review into police actions at last year's Splendour in the Grass festival are appalling. We have learned that seven minors were strip searched at the event and only one in the presence of a parent or guardian, as is required by law. We have learned that just 8.4 per cent of people strip searched at the Splendour in the Grass were found to be in possession of illicit drugs.
