I am hopeful that this moment in the New South Wales Parliament signals a new chapter in climate policy when true optimistic and genuine bipartisanship help us turn the page and gets us moving when it really counts.

The Greenway corridor stretching from Iron Cove to the Cooks River is a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers, being home to over 239 different species of birds including rare and precious native species.

The Local Land Services Amendment (Miscellaneous) Bill 2020 purports to streamline the processes by which farmers and forestry managers conduct normal agricultural processes or allowable activities by decoupling the Local Land Services Act and the State Environmental Planning and Assessment Act. 

The difference between the policies of the Labor Opposition and the Government on land clearing and koala protection could not be more stark. Labor has long fought this Government on its appalling record and approach to land clearing and to biodiversity protection. Labor understands the value of protecting our unique and iconic native species but, unlike the Government, we also understand what it takes to do so: stopping habitat destruction, reversing the tragic loss of our native forest and facing head-on the many threats caused by climate change.
