A Minns Labor Government will help save koalas from extinction by protecting key habitats and restoring environmental protections torn up by the Liberals and Nationals over the past 12 years.

The Land and Environment Court has ruled in favour of Canterbury Bankstown Council and of the residents of Ashbury after dismissing an appeal by a developer seeking to develop land adjacent to Peace Park into seven residential lots.

The Government needs to urgently find a permanent solution to the flooding to ensure the integrity of the heritage home. 

This is the third time the Liberals and Nationals have attempted to pass legislation that destroys koala habitat in the last three years.

I commend Among the Trees on opening the Graham Tilly Woodworking Library, honouring Mr Tilly's legacy and passion for woodwork.

Many activists, environmentalists and residents who have fought for a generation to complete the park and the commitment from NSW Labor to add the missing links and finish the park.

Has the Minister been advised by his department of what impact the Government's private native forestry bill will have on its commitment to double the koala population?

I will move that this House congratulates everyone that took part in Ride to Work Day.

The Government needs to act now on deforestation, land clearing, urbanisation and the destruction of wildlife corridors, and to save the koala from extinction in New South Wales.
