This week is National Recycling Week, a time for us all to make an extra effort to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Planet Ark has held National Recycling Week in the second week of November since 1996, making this year it's 25th anniversary. Planet Ark provides important resources and information to households, businesses and councils about recycling. National Recycling Week promotes kerbside, industrial and community recycling initiatives, empowers households to minimise waste and encourage reuse programs.

This year's focus is celebrating Recycling Week YOUR way. Whether it's in person, online, at home or at school, let's all take some time between November 8 and 14 to reflect on the ways we can increase recycling and reduce the amount of waste we send to landfill.

I acknowledge and thank local groups including Reverse Garbage, the Bower Reuse and Repair Centre, and Boomerang Bags for their work and to the local War on Waste Group for bringing people together and empowering locals to reduce their ecological footprint.

I congratulate Planet Ark on achieving this important milestone and thank you for reminding us each year about the need to recycle and reuse.
