The Inner West Light Rail is proof that if you build public transport, people will use it and the additional services will go a long way to beat congestion and help us all socially distance as we return to work.

Jo Haylen, Member for Summer Hill, is demanding the NSW Government fund new vehicles and services for the Inner West Light Rail in the NSW State Budget on 17 November.

We inner westies love our light rail, but too often, it is late, cancelled or full by the time it reaches our stop. We need action now.

This bill is about transforming a disused rail line into a key dynamic and living piece of active transport infrastructure. It will create jobs and opportunity, both during construction and into the future. It will enhance protections for the heritage elements along the line and create a fascinating story for future generations.

This petition sends, yet again, a clear message to the Government that the people of New South Wales are fed up with its addiction to polluting toll roads.

The Liberal Government promised WestConnex would mean less traffic on local roads. A year on, the cat is out of the bag—WestConnex has made inner west local traffic even worse.

While residents acknowledge the need to combat rat running and congestion around the inner west due to WestConnex, these proposals are clearly focused on moving people in and out of WestConnex tunnels rather than improving traffic and amenity for local communities.
