Reconciliation Week begins and ends on the same dates every year, acknowledging the successful referendum recognising First Nations people on 27 May 1967 and Eddie Mabo's Native Title case on 3 June 1992.

I congratulate the 150 women from the inner west who were included in the council's 2021 International Women's Day honour roll for their sisterhood and achievements in the community.

Over the month of March, the Cooks River Alliance has been bringing together inner westies and local environmental groups to help clean up the Cooks River and our local parks across the inner west.

I am proud to announce that the 2021 Summer Hill Woman of the Year is Cheree Toka, a Kamilaroi woman of the inner west.

Notes 13 February 2021 marks the 13th anniversary of the National Apology to Australia's Indigenous peoples.
