Jo Haylen, the member for Summer Hill, has called for Haberfield to be added to the State Heritage Register. 

For many Sydneysiders, Haberfield is just another suburb that one drives past: a name on a map, a sign on Parramatta Road, maybe a place your grandma took you to in order to buy cannoli—really good cannoli. However, for the people who live in Haberfield it is obviously much more. Today I take this opportunity to speak about Haberfield and the importance of its community.

Jo Haylen, Member for Summer Hill made a speech in the NSW Parliament on 13 October 2015 about the heritage values of the suburb of Haberfield in her electorate and the impact of the Westconnex M4 East on Haberfield's heritage.

The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Westconnex, released today, is damning of the project’s impacts on the unique heritage value of Haberfield, Australia’s oldest garden suburb.

Jo Haylen MP, Member for Summer Hill has called on the Baird Liberal Government to immediately stop plans for a tunnel exhaust stack close to schools, child care centres and nursing homes in Haberfield and Ashfield.

The right to work safely is one of the principal rights we expect as Australians. Whether we work in mines, construction sites, hospitals, schools or offices, we all rightly expect to be safe in our day-to-day work. Thankfully, the vast majority of us get through every day—working hard to provide for ourselves and our families—without incident, and return home safely.

The Member for Summer Hill, Jo Haylen, has applauded the work of the publicly owned Heritage Services. 

Active transport is the way of the future. More and more people are embracing active transport for their daily commute, especially cycling and walking to work, recognising that it combats some of our greatest challenges.
