Globe Wilkins Preschool Saved
June 25, 2019

Member for Summer Hill, Jo Haylen, today congratulated the parents from Save Globe Wilkins following today’s announcement from Minister Sarah Mitchell, that the preschool would stay open.

The ‘Save Globe Wilkins’ year long community campaign won a permanent home for the preschool, while also accommodating the needs of the growing school community at Wilkins Public School.

The Inner West Council has operated the award-winning preschool at Wilkins Public School for over 20 year and has been fighting to keep the doors of the service open since the Department initially announced it would not renew the lease.

Minister Mitchell made the announcement this morning to a packed room of parents and children at the preschool.

The Department of Education has issued a two year lease extension to the preschool and discussions are underway to secure the preschool’s permanent home.

Globe preschool is one of the only preschools in NSW to have achieved an excellence rating through the ACECQA National Quality Standard.
