That this House:

  1. Notes that the new Higher School Certificate (HSC) physics syllabus references 25 scientists a total of 56 times, but does not mention female physicists or their contributions to the science.

  2. Notes that this will discoruage girls and women to study science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM).

  3. Calls on the Minister for Education to immediately review the physics HSC syllabus and to ensure girls are taught about pioneering women in STEMM including Ruby Payne-Scott, Professor Marie Curie, Dr Rosalind Franklin and Dame Professor Jocelyn Bell-Burnell, among others.
