Congratulations to Wilkins Public School on being selected and filmed by the much loved ABC TV show Gardening Australia Junior. Special congratulations to Wilkins student Maeve MacDonald, who impressed during filming and was invited back to audition as a host and film another episode later this year. This recognition reflects the incredible dedication of the entire school community—students, teachers, parents, and staff—who transformed their grounds into an educational garden deserving national spotlight. The filming showcased many who've made the Wilkins Green flourish—teachers nurturing young gardeners, parents planting seedlings, students embracing hands-on learning, alongside dedicated bush carers and wildlife volunteers. Wilkins Public School has created a thriving educational space and championed sustainability education, teaching children environmental stewardship while making learning engaging for all. Thanks to Principal Sarah Jones, teachers, Wilkins Green Educator Mary Bell, green coordinators Tracey Graham and Katrina Byrnes, and volunteers who contributed their time and green thumbs to make this garden successful. Schools like Wilkins Public School remind us why innovative public education matters. Congratulations on this well-deserved national recognition—and here's to many more seasons of growth, learning, and discovery to come.
