Vivi Germans Koutsounadis was a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to serving the multicultural community in Sydney, with extraordinary compassion and vision. Born in Greece in 1946, Vivi arrived in Sydney as a child in 1954, experiencing firsthand the challenges facing migrant families. Rather than being defined by these early struggles, she transformed them into a lifelong commitment to helping others navigate similar journeys. Founder of the Ethnic Childcare, Family and Community Services Cooperative, Vivi ensured vulnerable children and families received culturally appropriate support. Her leadership extended to serving as President of the Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales in 2000, where her vision and devotion strengthened the organisation immeasurably. Vivi's significant contribution to our community was recognised through many accolades, including the Order of Australia and Human Rights Medal. Vivi was much loved by the community in Marrickville and beyond. Her legacy of service, compassion, and building bridges will endure in the countless lives she touched. I extend my deepest condolences to Vivi's family, friends and all who knew her.
