I wish to recognise the passing of Eddie Alameddine, a much-loved local Dulwich Hill business owner and member of my local community. Eddie's nephew, Ammar El-Khaled, broke the news to our community last Friday 14 June, leaving Dulwich Hill and surrounding areas heartbroken at the loss. Eddie Alameddine tragically passed away at only 46 years of age after suffering a heart attack. Eddie owned the local Dulwich Hill greengrocer and was well renowned in our community as kind-hearted and extraordinarily generous and welcoming. He would often give children free fruit when they came into his shop, and regularly helped those struggling to afford fresh fruit and vegetables. The Dulwich Hill community has come together in grief, sharing social media tributes referring to Eddie as "The most cheery shopkeeper in Dulwich Hill" and describing his loss as "immeasurable". I extend my deepest condolences to Eddie's family, and many friends. Vale Eddie Alameddine and thank you for your many years of contributing to our community, you will be missed.
