I was saddened to hear of the passing of Don Readett a dedicated educator whose life was defined by service, compassion and an unwavering commitment to learning. Don's distinguished career centred on Dobroyd Point Public School, where he served with distinction as Principal for more than 22 years. Don brought to that role the strong academic foundations he had built at Armidale Teachers' College, the University of New England, where he completed a Bachelor of Economics and the University of Sydney, where he earned a Master of Education. In his later career, Don contributed to the Department of Education's Building the Education Revolution Infrastructure program, a role in which he took great pride. Colleagues and friends who gathered to celebrate his life spoke warmly of his passion, his optimism and his natural gift for leadership. Beyond the schoolyard, Don was a lover of music, the beach and, above all, his family, upon whom he lavished boundless energy and affection. On behalf of our inner west community I extend my sincere condolences to his beloved wife Jody and their four daughters. Vale Don Readett.
