I congratulate Dr Ursula Dubosarsky on being made a Member of the Order of Australia, which is a richly deserved recognition of one of the most talented and original voices in Australian literature and a cherished member of our Marrickville community. The author of more than 40 books for children and young adults, Ursula has spent decades shaping the reading lives and imaginations of young Australians. Her work has earned some of the country's highest literary honours, including the Premier's Literary Award from New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland, which is a remarkable sweep that speaks to the breadth and quality of her writing. From beloved picture books such as The Terrible Plop and Too Many Elephants in This House, which have both been adapted into successful stage productions, to her acclaimed fiction for older children and her wonderful Word Spy series, Ursula's body of work is diverse and distinguished. I congratulate Ursula on this honour, a thoroughly deserved award.
