I honour the life and legacy of Father Nektarios Zorbalas, a cherished spiritual leader of the Greek Orthodox community. For more than three decades, Father Nektarios served the inner west community at St Nicholas in Marrickville and Sts Constantine and Helen in Newtown, nurturing generations of Greek Australians with unwavering faith, compassion and love. Father Nektarios's humble, generous and kind approach to his ministry ensured that no-one was turned away and saw him become a spiritual guide to the most vulnerable among us, often in their darkest days. The soup kitchen he founded in Marrickville and extended to Newtown gave people not just a meal but also connection, friendship and a community to belong to. I offer my deep condolences to his family and parishioners and all those across the inner west touched by his dedicated life of service.
