Congratulations to Summer Hill's own Jo Blackman and Phil Nanlohy on being named Inner West Senior Citizens of the Year! Jo Blackman is a passionate community leader, environmental advocate, and tireless volunteer. She has founded and supported numerous local environmental groups, including the Greenway Birdos citizen science group and the Marrickville Peace Group. Jo also plays a vital role in our community by providing respite care and mental health first aid to those in need. Thank you, Jo, for your unwavering dedication to environmental activism and the wellbeing of others. Phil Nanlohy is a founding volunteer of the Inner West institution Reverse Garbage, and 50 years later, he continues to serve on its Board of Directors. Phil also runs leather and woodworking workshops, generously sharing his skills with the community. As a long-time educator, he mentors new teachers and encourages the reuse of resources in the classroom.
