Congratulations to an absolute legend of Australian journalism and a proud resident of Dulwich Hill, Peter Manning, on receiving the 2025 Walkley Award for Outstanding Contribution to Journalism. Over his remarkable 60-year career, Peter has demonstrated an enduring commitment to the highest standards of journalism. His pioneering work with the ABC has shaped the landscape of Australian media in ways that continue to influence the field today. Peter led the rejuvenation of Four Corners and created groundbreaking programs like Lateline, Foreign Correspondent, and Landline. These programs have become institutions in Australian journalism. In 1995, he launched the ABC's multimedia unit, overseeing its first online output and helping the ABC adapt to the digital age. Peter's work has informed and challenged and enlightened Australians for six decades. His commitment to quality journalism—holding power to account, telling important stories, and maintaining the highest ethical standards—represents everything our democracy needs from the fourth estate. Congratulations Peter on this well-deserved recognition. We're proud to have you in our community!
