Pepito's in Marrickville has been named Favourite New Opening (Restaurant, Cafe or Bar) in this year's Time Out Bar & Restaurant Revive Awards. Pepito's has established itself as one of Marrickville's best loved eateries since it opened, moving into the old Phước Hải Seafood business on Illawarra Road. Pepito's is run by owner José Alkon and echoes a traditional Peruvian "taberna" or family-run, neighbourhood restaurant for casual eating. I have had the pleasure of eating at Pepito's with friends a number of times and particularly enjoyed the charcoal grilled anticuchos, pork belly and shots of ceviche. Pepito's is renowned for its selection of piscos and Chilean red wines. I am always proud to see new businesses flourish and thrive in Marrickville and the Inner West, particularly when they reflect the rich multiculturalism of our community. This award is a true reflection of just how loved and supported Pepito's is by the Marrickville community. Congratulations to José and all the staff at Pepito's.
