I acknowledge the tragic loss of Nectarios "Necta" Papanicolaou. Anyone who visited Dulwich Hill Gourmet Meats on Marrickville Road could tell you just how much Nectarios loved his job, his family and his community. In her tribute, Athena Sirmanoglou described Necta as "the true definition of a people person" and a "man with the world's biggest smile, the playful joker with a great sense of humour, the beautiful soul who lit up the room with his positive energy and infectious laugh". Nectarios will be sorely missed by the Dulwich Hill community. Thousands have poured their condolences and sympathy across Facebook posts and community forums. A GoFundMe page has raised $65,000 for his family. My thoughts during this tremendously difficult time are with his wife, Krissy; his daughter, Paris; son, George; his parents, George and Yiota; and his siblings, Michael, Dion and Michelle. The whole of the inner west is keeping them in our thoughts. Our community will miss Necta greatly, but his memory will live on when anyone is greeted with a smile at our beloved butcher in Dulwich Hill.
