I'd like to congratulate the organisers of the Muddy River Festival, held on Saturday 28 March at Marrickville Golf Club. Organised by Marrickville's Emily Cascarino, this free, family-friendly event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Cooks River, our backyard river, through music, culture and community connection. The Muddy River Festival brought together local artists, youth performers and community organisations to raise awareness of the river's history and inspire us all to participate in its care and revitalisation. The Cooks River is such an important part of our Inner West community, and events like this help us connect with it emotionally while learning how we can actively contribute to its ongoing restoration. The afternoon featured live music, performances and activities for all ages. With free entry, and beautiful autumn weather, the lawn was full of picnickers and their friendly dogs, and the dance floor full of dancers. Congratulations and thank you to Emily and all the team organising this great event to help us celebrate and care for our beautiful and invaluable Cooks River!
