The fabulous team at the Midjuburi Youth Resource Centre [MYRC] held a NAIDOC Week event last month, a beautiful and empowering event in which culture, art, food, stories and more were shared. It was a privilege to be there. The MYRC has been a vital part of our community since 1985. Located on Gadigal and Wangal lands, the centre works hard to provide a safe place for young people between the ages of 12 and 24 living in the inner west. The centre offers free services like financial/legal assistance and addiction recovery services, providing a safe space for young people to embark on creative community-based endeavours. The MYRC prides itself on being an accessible, culturally safe and welcoming space for all young people to come and be themselves, have their voices heard and form connections with others and their community. I express my gratitude and support to the centre's CEO, Louise Hammond, and the entire team behind the Midjuburi Youth Resource Centre for supporting young people in our community.
