Congratulations to Mr Martin Pearce from Haberfield, recognised in the 2026 Australia Day Honours with the Ambulance Service Medal for distinguished service as an intense care, motorcycle and critical care helicopter paramedic. Through his work with NSW Ambulance, Mr Pearce has undertaken hundreds of missions across NSW, often in remote and isolated locations. As the lead trainer for remote area vertical rope access, Mr Pearce has instructed countless NSW Ambulance officers to safely undertake vertical rope access procedures. His training has meant more skilled experts are on hand in times of crisis, helping more people survive emergencies and get home to their families. While we all hope never to be in a situation where we need the assistance of the vertical rope access team, it is reassuring to know that thanks to Martin, the team would have the skills and knowledge to safely complete the mission.
