Marrickville South Collective is a partnership of multiple inner west community groups which, amongst other things, holds monthly BBQs at Louisa Lawson Reserve. I recently had the chance to drop by and enjoy this great community event. These BBQs are a space for locals to relax, connect and access help from a range of support services. I am always encouraged to see how much people value the simple opportunity to catch up with others from their community but also get the help they need in a friendly environment. Whether it was food, assistance, or just some well-needed face to face time with fellow locals, everyone gained something from attending. A massive thank you to all the volunteers and workers across the various participating services. Thanks in particular to Tom from Newtown Neighbourhood Centre and Lindy and the team from Marrickville Connect. Other services that support the BBQ are Inner West Council, Services Australia, Community Cultural Connections, St George Community Housing, Homes NSW, Barnardos Marrickville, PCYC Marrickville, Midjuburi Youth Resource Centre, Addison Road Food Pantry, and more! Thank you for your efforts in supporting the vibrant multicultural community of South Marrickville.
