I acknowledge the critical work being done by the Marrickville Intensive English Centre, located at Marrickville High School. The Centre provides English language skills to newly arrived migrants, refugees and International Students. It gives students of secondary school age English language skills so they can access mainstream high school courses. The Centre's grounds are spacious with a range of modern facilities, including modern features such as interactive classrooms with electronic boards, access to a commercial kitchen and school garden. Many ex-students have gone on to achieve ATARs over 99, with numerous students being able to complete the HSC and move to their goals of pursuing careers and tertiary study options. A big thank you to IEC Head Teacher Jade Lo, and your team of dedicated staff who not only teach, but support and nurture these students throughout their time at the Intensive English Centre and in life beyond their school years.
