I would like to congratulate Marrickville High School [MHS] Garden Club on their successful installation of food cubes on the school grounds, and a bumper spring harvest. Under the passionate leadership of Alice Bell, Leila Jeffries, Lolita Garcia and Tania Milnes, the MHS P&C funded 12 food cubes and wicking beds. After working bees attended by over 50 parents, students and staff, the garden is now bursting with fresh goodies. Students and parents have been able to enjoy fresh snow peas, salad greens, rhubarb and herbs. A Wednesday afternoon garden club, with over 50 members, has been set up for students and the school community, and it's terrific that students will soon have access to this outdoor activity. There are plans afoot for a further 8 food cubes to be set up in November, and to be able to use the produce in food technology classes and the school canteen. Congratulations and thank you to the passionate MHS students, teachers, parents and neighbours!
