I move that this House:

1. Reaffirms its commitment to marriage equality, noting this House's unanimous support of equality in June 2015.

2. Renews the call for a constructive and respectful debate, acknowledging that such a debate is impossible within the context of a national plebiscite on marriage equality.

3. Considers that a plebiscite would be expensive, divisive and damaging and calls on the Federal Government to resolve the issue through the Commonwealth Parliament.
