Congratulations to Dov Kornits, Dr. Greg Dolgopolov and Inner West Council on the successful second year of the Inner West Film Fest! From 11 to 21 April this vibrant festival celebrated cinema through an array of engaging historical, and culturally significant film-related events. In just its second year the festivities more than doubled in size! The official opening night took place on Friday 12 April in Steel Park Marrickville with a free one-off open-air screening of the breakout 2004 indie hit Napoleon Dynamite. This picturesque location was one of three screening venues alongside Palace Norton St and Dendy Cinemas Newtown. A big congratulations to all the recipients of the Short Film Gold Star Awards in both the Comedy and Drama Sections, as well as the winners of the Pitching Competition! Congratulations Dov Kornits and Dr. Greg Dolgopolov and Inner West Council, Mayor Darcy Byrne, General Manager Peter Gainsford and all involved on putting on such a wonderful event. I can't wait to see the Inner West Film Fest back again next year!
