The Inner West Distillery Trail, a brilliant new initiative that showcases my local area's exceptional craft distilling industry was launched on Wednesday 27 August. The Inner West has long been recognised as Australia's craft beer capital, and now we're cementing our reputation as home to some of the nation's most awarded whiskey, rum, gin and vodka distillers. The trail was officially launched at Red Mill Rum, bringing together distillers from Marrickville and the Balmain-Lilyfield districts. Following the tremendous success of the Inner West Ale Trail, this initiative shines a light on our area's thriving distillery industry. Our local artisans are crafting world-class spirits right here in our neighbourhoods, from innovative botanical gins to premium aged whiskeys. These distilleries aren't just producing exceptional spirits; they're creating jobs, attracting visitors, and contributing to our local economy. I particularly commend Kieren Doyle from Blackwattle Distilling Co and Mayor Darcy Byrne and the team at Inner West Council for their leadership in establishing the trail, along with all the participating distillers who have made it a reality. Cheers to putting the Inner West on the map as Sydney's premium spirits destination!
