Congratulations to the community members who have campaigned for lighting and other improvements to make the Bay Run safe for everyone. On 9 September, I was fortunate to be able to join Mayor Darcy Byrne, Deputy Mayor Philippa Scott and the Member for Balmain, Kobi Shetty, and many excited locals to help cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony of the new Bay Run Pathway and Lighting Upgrade. This five-million-dollar upgrade represents another link in the GreenWay environmental corridor connecting the Cooks River at Earlwood to the Parramatta River at Iron Cove. The Lilyfield Road Bridge has been transformed with wide separated cycling and walking paths, new gardens, places to sit and picnic and even some new exercise equipment. The upgrade also includes a bicycle service station and a water bubbler. It means one of Sydney's best walks is even better! I look forward to seeing all the picturesque Instagram moments as everyone gets out to enjoy the new facilities and stay active enjoying our very own iconic Bay Run.
