Marrickville Library Pavillion was packed out for the recent Home Battery Mini Expo on 16 August. The expo was hosted by Inner West Community Energy who do vital work helping our community navigate renewable energy and understand how home batteries benefit both hip pockets and our planet. Their mission is to transition Sydney's Inner West to 100% renewable energy – something that together I know we can achieve. Residents were given practical information about capturing and storing renewable energy, showing how batteries can slash electricity bills while reducing emissions. Inner West Community Energy has championed our community's sustainable future, advocating for affordable, clean energy solutions. Their volunteer-driven approach embodies the community spirit that makes our inner west special—neighbours helping neighbours make informed energy decisions. Thanks to Gavin Gilchrist, who has led IWCE since 2017, all the volunteers who organised this expo, the presenters who shared their expertise, and everyone who attended to learn more about renewable energy options. Community groups like Inner West Community Energy remind us that the path to a cleaner future starts with informed local action. Here's to powering our community towards a more sustainable tomorrow.
