Jo Haylen MP, Member for Summer Hill, today presented a blueprint to make the inner west the craft brewing capital of Australia.

Ms Haylen will take the plan to her parliamentary colleagues with the aim of providing a strong regulatory framework for inner west brewers to continue their unprecedented growth.

Ms Haylen’s electorate contains multiple craft brewers including Batch Brewery and The Grifter, and inner west craft beers can be found at pubs, bars and homes across the State.

With initiatives including brewery tours, the development of the Sydenham Creative Hub and better regulation for food trucks, the inner west is becoming a vital centre for Sydney’s night-time economy.

Comments attributable to Jo Haylen MP, Member for Summer Hill:

“When people think of Marrickville and the inner west, increasingly they think of edgy arts, live music and world class craft brewers.

“Craft brewing is a growing industry that creates local jobs and makes the inner west a tourist destination.

“Labor’s plan gives local brewers a strong foundation for the future and cement the kind of innovative work they are already doing.

“I am proud to support the Inner West Craft Brewers and know just how intrinsic this industry is to the future of small-scale manufacturing in the inner west.”
