Congratulations to Mr Paul Angus of Haberfield, First Place winner of the 2025 Inner West Council Greenway Art Prize! Paul's painting titled 'It was like this when I got here' depicts how "an unusually high tide turns the neglected Hawthorne Canal into a mirror reflecting sky and greenery." Through his thoughtful use of place, light and texture, Paul invites us to see our Inner West home with fresh eyes, deepening our appreciation of Country, community and environment. The Greenway Art Prize, now in its 15th year, recognises artistic excellence and celebrates the creativity of the Inner West community. The entries powerfully capture the unique landscape and history of the community connected by the Greenway corridor, reminding us of the importance of preserving and celebrating urban green space. Paul's achievement reflects the strength of our local arts community and the vital role artists play in telling our stories and inspiring action to protect our shared spaces. It is a testament to his talent, dedication and vision. Congratulations Paul!
