Brooklyn Boy Bagels in Marrickville has been named Favourite Sandwich Joint in this year's Time Out Bar & Restaurant Revive Awards. Brooklyn-born food journalist Michael Shafran's delicious bagels have been a fixture at food and farmers markets in Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast for years and Marrickville residents are delighted that Brooklyn Boy opened a drive-through bakery and storefront on Carrington Road. The company's motto is "If it ain't boiled, it ain't a bagel" and their bagels are made from top produce and are hand-rolled and kettle-boiled after a long cold fermentation. Their selection is familiar to anyone who has ever travelled to the Big Apple: my fan favourite is the everything bagel. Brooklyn Boy Bagels joins a long list of exceptional bakeries choosing to make Marrickville and the Inner West home, including Goodwood Bakery, the Bourke Street Bakery and Baked by Keiran in Dulwich Hill. I warmly congratulate Michael and everyone at Brooklyn Boy Bagels on this important recognition and wish you all the best as you continue to grow and serve our inner west community!
