I wish to recognise and congratulate Brigadier Brendan Casey AM on his Military Award in the King's Birthday 2024 Honours List. Brigadier Casey is a resident of my Summer Hill Electorate and received this award for exceptional service to the Australian Army Reserve as Commander of the 8th Brigade, Commander of Operation AGED CARE ASSIST and as the Australian Army's Adjutant General. Brigadier Casey has selflessly given his time for over 35 years to the Australian Army Reserve, including active deployment overseas in 2011 in Afghanistan. His other volunteer work includes being the Deputy President of the Alumni Council at the University of Sydney. The PhD-qualified chemical engineer has also had a celebrated career in the finance sector and has stated that "leadership, planning and resilience are the qualities the army has given me". Brigadier Casey has been described as calm under pressure, driven to excellence and has a track record which shows a high level of mental agility. Congratulations on this well-deserved honour and thank you for your decades of service to the Australian Army Reserve and wider community.
