Congratulations to local Marrickville business Bread and Butter Project on their 10-year anniversary. Bread and Butter Project is Australia's first social enterprise bakery, and was founded by Paul Allam, David McGuiness and Jessica Gryberg. The Bread & Butter Project is not just a bakery, but a community that provides support, education, and a pathway to a brighter future for its graduates. The bakery offers full-time traineeships that include baking skills, work experience, TAFE accreditation, English as a second language tutoring, and career counselling. Since their established they have provided over 81,000 training hours and helped 65 people graduate as professional artisan bakers. After 10 years in operation, their success is a testament to the power of social enterprise and the positive impact it can have on marginalised communities. This program has been shown to have lasting intergenerational impact and helps boost trainees' prospects of successful resettlement and employment, while building a strong sense of belonging in the Australian community. Congratulations Paul, David and Jessica and all the team at Bread and Butter Project.
