Congratulations to Andrew Bokor PS and Salvatore Pane from Ashfield-Leichhardt SES Unit for being awarded National Medals at the recent NSW SES Metro Zone Awards for 2025. The National Medal recognises long and diligent service by members of the SES, who risk their lives or safety to protect the community in times of emergency. Salvatore Pane has 15 years of dedicated service, and Andrew Bokor has spent an impressive 35 years helping others in times of emergency. This medal is not only given for long service, but those who receive it must have been exposed to risk and hazards in their volunteering. They must also retain a level of training and physical fitness, be loyal, reliable and conscientious. I cannot think of a more fitting description of the volunteers in Ashfield-Leichhardt unit, led by SES Unit Commander Sharon Buckley. I would also like to congratulate Bridget Canham from Marrickville SES Unit for her 20 Years Long Service Award. Congratulations Andrew, Salvatore and Bridget - thank you for all your dedication and hard work.
