The Addison Road Community Centre has become the engine room of the Inner West Community's efforts to combat food insecurity throughout the COVID-19 Delta outbreak and lockdown. The Centre is rescuing food and feeding over 8,000 people each week during the pandemic, including households and families across the West and South-West Sydney. I was proud to visit the Centre to assist with packing hampers, joined by the tireless Jihad Dib, Member for Lakemba, and Leader of the Opposition, Chris Minns. We saw dedicated, passionate volunteers working around the clock to ensure that the most vulnerable in our community are still able to access food and other support. We saw donations of food flooding in from local businesses and manufacturers, and local organisations like the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre helping distribute packed hampers to the households that needed them. I want to thank Rosanna Barbero, Chief Executive Officer at Addison Road, as well as all the other staff and volunteers who have worked so tirelessly to support our community. You have made an extraordinary difference to countless people when they needed it most.
