Each year, local residents generously donate toys and books for my Annual Christmas Toy Drive, with donations going to kids and families supported by AbSec, the NSW Child, Family and Community Peak Aboriginal Corporation. AbSec does incredible work to ensure that Aboriginal children in out-of-home care across the State are supported and nurtured within their communities. The importance of this work cannot be understated—keeping Aboriginal children in the care of their communities must be a number one priority. I am proud to support organisations like AbSec to achieve that goal in any way that I can. In a year where it was easy to feel disconnected from those around us, it was heartwarming to see the Summer Hill community go out of its way to donate toys. Every year, the pile of toys, books and gifts continues to grow and the success of the drive is a testament to the generosity and goodwill of inner westies. I extend my deepest thankyou to everyone who donated this year and also extend my sincerest gratitude to the staff and families working with AbSec.
