The vibrant café culture of the Inner West is just one of the many reasons that we love our local neighbourhood and I am happy to welcome a great new addition to the scene in Pelican. Co-owned by Oleh Sokolovsky and Anthony Lot, Pelican has transformed a former humble shopfront on Illawarra Road in Marrickville and turned it into a bright, welcoming space for old, young and our furry friends alike. Furnished with refurbished furniture from Oleh's vintage store Juliet's Balcony in Dulwich Hill, the café features a countertop made of recycled plastic by local group Defy Design. Overlooking Steel Park Pelican is the perfect stop for a pre-game or half-time coffee hit and also serves a unique Brekkie hot dog along with pastries, muffins and other tasty treats. Bringing a sense of fun as well as great food and drink I congratulate Oleh and Anthony and wish them well in their new venture.
