Jo Haylen, Member for Summer Hill, offered her support to residents peacefully protesting Westconnex and the destruction of heritage homes in Haberfield today.

"These are beautiful heritage homes and the community has been saying for over a year that they want them to say," said Ms Haylen.

"Residents wrote thousands of submissions and engaged in the Government's tick-the-box consultation and haven't even been dignified with a proper response."

"The Government has thrown out the rule book when it comes to transparency and consultation around Westconnex and actions like this show how understandably angry and frustrated residents are."

"The message for the Government is that Haberfield's heritage is worth fighting for. And I stand with residents in their fight.

Ms Haylen continues to be a strong opponent of the project, condemning the $16.8 billion cost, impacts on families and local heritage and the government's lack of transparency.

"I stand shoulder to shoulder with residents opposed to Westconnex," said Ms Haylen.
