I wish to acknowledge the long and distinguished career of Mr Peter Kaye AM ESM who has recently retired from his leadership role with the NSW State Emergency Service [SES] after 47 years of dedicated service.

I wish to acknowledge the long and distinguished career of Mr Peter Kaye AM ESM who has recently retired from his leadership role with the NSW State Emergency Service [SES] after 47 years of dedicated service. Mr Kaye retires as one of the longest‑serving Unit Commanders in the SES having led the Ashfield-Leichhardt Unit since 1983. Supporting not only the local community Mr Kaye has also responded to disasters in Victoria, Queensland, after the 1989 Newcastle earthquake and the 1997 Thredbo landslide. Mr Kaye is well known as a strong advocate and mentor for many volunteers, supporting equity and diversity in the SES. Mr Kaye has also given his time and talents to support many other organisations including the Duke of Edinburgh International Award, SIDS and Kids, and as a Microfinance Development Educator and Volunteer for the South Pacific. Mr Kaye was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia in 2014 and recognised with the Emergency Services Medal (ESM) in 2021. Mr Kaye continues as a volunteer with the SES.
