Friday 10 May marked the twenty‑fifth anniversary of National Walk Safely to School Day held in conjunction with National Road Safety Week. National Walk Safely to School Day helps kids to stay safe, encourages exercise and healthy living, and is a great opportunity to talk to kids about staying safe on and around our roads. Encouraging kids and families to walk, ride or use public transport to and from school is good for our environment. It reduces pollution and it relieves congestion on our roads. I was proud to join my fantastic colleague the member for Canterbury and the Minister for Roads, John Graham, at Canterbury South Public School with their brilliant principal, Eliza Frasca, and many enthusiastic kids and parents to celebrate the day. I thank the local area command for participating and promoting road safety around our schools. Congratulations to everyone who participated.
