Kosta Anagnostou of "Cons Handmade Shoes" was a much-loved, longstanding member of the Hurlstone Park community, known as "Con" by family and friends. "Cons Handmade Shoes" was a symbol of the many skilled Greek migrants who established businesses in our area. Con was a master craftsman who made and repaired shoes meant to last – a skill that is slowly dying out in our modern world. Con provided his unique service for over 45 years, making shoes for a wide range of community members and groups, including the NSW Police, children at Westmead Hospital and the Sydney Opera House wardrobe department. Nestled in his workshop amongst his materials and tools Con was always welcoming with a smile and ready for a chat. Con's granddaughter, Irene, described Con as "able to chat with anyone" and said that many members of the community have reached out with lovely stories of Con since his passing. Con will be sorely missed, and I send my deepest condolences to his beloved family and all the inner west community who mourn his loss. Vale Con.
