I was recently honoured to view the outstanding Dulwich High School of Visual Arts and Design indigenous art display. Under the dedicated leadership of Deputy Principal Josh O'Neil, this remarkable multi-year project has ensured that every Indigenous student at the school has their artwork featured in a stunning show at the school's Seaview Gallery. This year, this brilliant educational initiative has also been transformed into a vibrant outdoor art gallery so that the whole community can enjoy the stunning art display. By printing and displaying these works on the school fence along Seaview Street, Dulwich High has created an accessible public art gallery that celebrates Indigenous culture and student achievement. This project goes far beyond classroom learning. Families and friends are invited to special opening celebrations, creating meaningful connections between school and community. The inclusion of an alumni section demonstrates the lasting impact and continuity of Indigenous voices and stories within the school's rich artistic tradition. Josh O'Neil, the talented artists and the entire Dulwich High community have created something truly special - a living testament that enriches our entire neighbourhood.
